Save One Life has established the Ansar Fund. Ansar is Arabic for helpers or supporters, and that’s who helps Save One Life satisfy the costs of delivering its programmes.

Without the Ansar Fund, our work would become severely limited, and we wouldn’t be able to reach the people in the way we currently do.

At Save One Life we value transparency and integrity and use our experience in humanitarian work to build partnerships with humanitarian organisations based in communities where there is an acute need.

Our partnership funding model means we have low operating costs. The majority of these are met through our Ansar Fund or gift aid donations. This means that every pound people donate has the maximum impact for people in need.

At Save One Life we believe in being transparent about how your donations are spent.

Delivering our critical aid work in Gaza requires operations work in the UK and overseas, which costs money. The costs of delivering aid in Gaza are higher than other locations due to the often difficult, high-risk and complex situation in Gaza. We have made a commitment that we are run as efficiently as possible to try and minimise these costs.

Our operational costs, include:

• the cost of physically distributing aid to beneficiaries in Gaza
• security for our volunteers in Gaza
• international money transfer fees
• credit/debit card fees
• storage, rent & bills
• staff costs
• fundraising costs
• auditing and reporting in line with legal and charity commission requirements.

We cover these operational costs through:

• taking a percentage of your donations (12.5%).  This percentage is in line with the recommendations from the Zakat Policy of the Islamic Council which we implement as our own policy.
• supporters make regular monthly donations towards the work of Save One Life (the Ansar Fund)
• claiming Gift Aid on donations (wherever possible)

What is Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a scheme which enables registered charities like Save One Life to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers. Reclaiming tax on your donation increases it by 25%. If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to select Gift Aid when you donate.
